Event Details

Join us in celebrating the 250th Birthday of the USA by making a basket!

Barbara Vaughn will teach you how to weave your own flat-top handled patriotic basket. This basket will have a flat-top handle with a base that measures 12" by 10". This basket is a great all purpose. Make sure to bring a lunch. This class is $30 and has limited spots.

Barbara is a recently retired Overton County School teacher who has been weaving baskets for 40 plus years. She learned most of my weaving skills from Katherine Smith who used to live in Monroe. Often when she designed a new basket, Barbara would be her new pattern tester. This forced her to learn to read patterns and how to write her own patterns,

To prepare for the event, make sure to read the Essential Eligibility Criteria provided.

This class is supported by a grant from Tennessee Arts Commission.
