    Wheelchair-Friendly Trails and Overlooks

    Many of our parks have wheelchair-friendly trails and paved walkways that enable wheelchair access.

    Some of these paths lead to overlooks. All of them provide greater access to many of the beautiful sights, sounds, and experiences in Tennessee State Parks.  

    Parks with Wheelchair-Friendly Trails

      Big Cypress Tree State Park

      Tree Identification Trail: A paved/boardwalk out-and-back trail that extends .35 miles and provides a view of the native wetlands.

      Middle Fork Bottoms State Park

      The park has one 4-mile interconnected paved trail, offering views of wildlife and natural resources.

      Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park

      These trails provide views of the native grasslands and historical Native American Mounds. 

      • Outer Loop Trail: 2.45 miles
      • Inner Loop Trail: 1.6 miles
      • Central Mound Trail: 4.05 miles

      Reelfoot Lake State Park

      Visitor Center Boardwalk: Located behind the park Visitor Center is a 0.45-mile boardwalk trail that follows the edge of the lake, providing excellent views of the wetlands and Reelfoot Lake.  

      Eagle Basin Day Use Trail: A .40-mile loop trail that offers beautiful views of Reelfoot Lake.

      T.O. Fuller State Park

      Tires to Trails: Starting behind the park’s Nature Center, you’ll find a 2.5-mile hard-surface walking trail made from rubber crumbs derived from recycled tires. This trail wanders past fields of wildflowers, a picturesque pond, and storybook panels.  

      Accessible Trail (one-way): Also known as the Wildlife Habitat Area, this 0.5-mile paved surface offers views of the seasonal wildflowers and is a great place to view waterfowl and songbirds.

      Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park

      There is a 0.9-mile paved trail around the park that takes visitors past monuments honoring aspects of Tennessee’s history.

      Bledsoe Creek State Park

      Mayo Wix Memorial Trail: This paved 1-mile trail features enlarged pages from children’s books along a portion of this trail so children can read while they explore nature.  

      Birdsong Trail: This paved 0.25-mile trail follows a stream and Old Hickory Lake, offering views of native wildflowers.

      Cedars of Lebanon State Park

      Cave Creek Trail: The 2625-foot Cave Creek Trail starts and ends in the park's butterfly garden behind the Dixon Merit Nature Center. The trail features picturesque views of Jackson Cave, an 80-foot pedestrian bridge spanning Cave Creek, and native grass prairie with seasonal wildflowers. Along the trail are benches, picnic tables, boardwalks, and smaller bridges.

      Cumberland Mountain State Park

      Byrd Lake Trail: The 0.5-mile trail offers stunning views of Byrd Lake and is a great place to view waterfowl and songbirds.

      Dunbar Cave State Park

      Lake Trail: This paved 0.7-mile trail offers scenic views and is a great place to see wildlife and wildflowers.

      Long Hunter State Park

      Couchville Lake Trail: This paved 2-mile trail wraps around a beautiful 110-acre lake.

      Radnor Lake State Park

      Otter Creek Trail: This 1.1-mile trail is paved and stroller-friendly, offering stunning views of the lake and the surrounding forests.

      Cove Lake State Park

      Cove Lake Trail: The 3-mile Cove Lake paved trail provides views of Cove Lake and the surrounding forested areas.

      Indian Mountain State Park

      Indian Mountain Lake Trail: This 1-mile paved loop follows the shore of Indian Mountain Lake.

      Red Clay State Park

      Interpretive Trail: The Interpretive Trail offers amazing views of the Cherokee Homestead, including the Council House, Corn Crib, Barn, Blacksmith Shop, Farmhouse, and Sleeping Huts.

      Seven Islands State Birding Park

      Bobwhite Accessible Trail: This trail is a 0.9-mile paved trail that stretches from the parking area to the French Broad River.

      Warriors' Path State Park

      Loop Trail: Our 0.64-mile loop trail winds around Duck Island and provides views of Fort Patrick Henry Lake.

      Henry Horton State Park

      Henry Horton Greenway: This paved 1.5-mile Henry Horton Greenway winds through the park's most notable features, including the native grasslands and historical landmarks.
