Beat the heat and learn all about the critters that live in our creeks! Join Seasonal Interpreter Morgan McGregor for a hands-on look at the organisms that call the creeks of the Watauga home. We’ll talk about the essential roles even small aquatic animals play in our ecosystem, and why they’re so important! This program will include wading in water up to 2 feet deep, so please dress appropriately in clothing that can get wet, swim trunks, and either open-toe water shoes or boots/waders. Bring a water bottle and optionally bug spray and sunscreen. You may be turned away if you are not adequately dressed. This program will last for about an hour and a half. In the event of inclement weather, this program will be rescheduled. This program is best for those between the ages of 8 and 12 but is suitable for all ages. Meet in the Visitor’s Center.
