Sinkhole Demonstration and Litter Bags for Waterway Cleanup Month

Mon, Jul 27, 2026 at 9:30 AM to Mon, Jul 27, 2026 at 10:30 AM

Event Details

Join us at the trailhead for a sinkhole demonstration showing the importance of keeping our waterways clean and get your own reusable litter bag for your next water adventure.

This program is for anyone who would like to learn why keeping our waterways clean is important for all Tennesseans and wildlife.

Tennessee’s landscape is abundant with karsts, caves, and sinkholes, including right here at Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park. Keeping these features and our waterways clean from pollution and trash is important for all life. Surface trash and pollution that end up in sinkholes can harm our groundwater. Tennesseans can work together to remove harmful items from our waterways and surfaces to keep our streams and river clean!

Stop by the trailhead for a sinkhole demonstration and grab your own reusable littler bag to be a part of keeping Tennessee beautiful. This is a come and go table set up at the Bunkum Cave Loop Trailhead.

To make the most of this experience, please see the attached Essential Eligibility Criteria.

In the event of inclement weather this program will be cancelled.
