This program is perfect for families, nature lovers, wildlife photographers, educators, and anyone with a curiosity about the natural world. Whether you’re a beginner eager to learn or a seasoned hiker wanting to expand your knowledge, all ages are welcome!


Purpose of the Program:

The "Slither Into Nature" program aims to:

  • Educate participants about the fascinating world of snakes, including their crucial role in the ecosystem.
  • Build awareness about the local snake species found in Cummins Falls State Park, with a focus on the Corn Snake and Eastern Hognose Snake.
  • Encourage safe and respectful wildlife interactions, teaching visitors how to observe and appreciate snakes in their natural habitat without disturbance.
  • Promote conservation by highlighting the environmental importance of these reptiles and the threats they face in the wild.

What to Expect:

Snake Behavior and Ecology Talk:

  • Dive into snake biology—learn how snakes hunt, communicate, and survive.

Live Snake Demonstration:

  • Get up close and personal with a live Corn Snake and Eastern Hognose Snake in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Discuss how to tell the difference between venomous and non-venomous species in the wild.

This program requires at least one participant to be signed up by the day before in order to be held. If the program is canceled, you will be notified via phone call.
