    Miller Farmstead at Roan Mountain

Before Roan Mountain State Park was established, the lands that now comprise the park were populated by communities of subsistence farmers.

In 1870, the Dave and Louisa Miller family moved to Ripshin Mountain, establishing a homesite where three generations of Millers lived for over 90 years. The farmhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because it reflects the lifestyle of rural subsistence farmers in Appalachia in the early 20th century.

    Pet Policy

Due to incidents involving livestock and guests, pets are not allowed on the premises of the Miller Farmstead or in the Miller Farmhouse, with the exception of trained service dogs.

    Groups

School programs and larger group tours may be arranged at alternative times by contacting Park Interpretive Ranger Andrea Price at Andrea.M.Price@tn.gov.
