Event Details

After a day around the table, spend Black Friday around the trail.

Join us at Ocoee River State Park for a free guided Day After Thanksgiving Hike. It’s a chance to get outside, give thanks for Tennessee’s natural beauty, and make memories with family and friends. Come learn something new, explore a favorite place, or meet a few new people along the way.

This year we will be hiking the Old Copper Road Trail. We will meet at the parking area of the Upper Ocoee Whitewater Center. Once everyone is together, plan on making some friends and carpooling to shuttle everyone to the start of the trail. This way we can have enough vehicles back at the Whitewater center to get everyone back to their vehicles. This is a moderate hike with stretches of up and downhill that is roughly 3 miles long one way. Be Sure to bring water and snacks for the trail as well as appropriate clothing and footwear. There will Facilities located at the beginning of the trail as well as the Whitewater Center parking area.

WHEN: 2:00PM-5:00PM. We expect a BIG crowd so we will leave promptly at 2:00PM

WHERE: Ocoee Whitewater Center, 4400 US-64, Copperhill, TN 37317

PARKING FEES: Parking at the Whitewater Center costs $3.00 per vehicle. Please bring cash and a writing utensil to pay the parking fee.

DISCLAIMER: This event will be cancelled if inclement weather occurs.

Ocoee River State Park is home to the internationally recognized whitewater sites along the "Mighty Ocoee" River. Tennessee State Parks began managing the river in 1984, along with the Hiwassee Scenic River, creating the Hiwassee/Ocoee River State Park. In 2025, the park split into the Hiwassee Scenic River State Park and the Ocoee River State Park to provide more dedicated resources to each area.
