Fungi Foray

Sat, Jul 25, 2026 at 4:00 PM to Sat, Jul 25, 2026 at 5:30 PM

Event Details

Beneath every step in the forest lies a hidden world of fungi. Join Clay at the southern Trail of Tears trailhead to learn how to find and identify local mushrooms, before heading into the field to search for them ourselves. We’ll also discuss the roles that fungi play in the park’s ecosystem, as well as how they have shaped human history. We will hike roughly 2 miles on an uneven trail, so please wear appropriate footwear and bring a bottle of water.
