David Crockett Birthplace State Park

David Crockett Birthplace State Park is located Limestone, TN in East Tennessee. Please be aware that it is a different park than David Crockett State Park, located in middle TN.

  • River with autumn trees on both sides, under a clear blue sky.
  • Nestled on 105 acres in Limestone, Tennessee, David Crockett Birthplace State Park marks the humble beginnings of the legendary frontiersman. While currently closed due to extensive flood damage, the park offers a glimpse into 18th-century frontier life. The park features a replica cabin, a visitor center with exhibits, and access to the Nolichucky River, promising a blend of history and natural beauty upon its reopening.

Hurricane Helene’s Impact and Our Path Forward

In 2024, Hurricane Helene brought record amounts of rain to East Tennessee, causing catastrophic flooding along the Nolichucky River. At David Crockett Birthplace State Park, nearly every building was destroyed, trails were washed away, and historical markers were swept away or buried in silt and debris. But, taking inspiration from David Crockett’s own legendary courage and determination, we are resolved to not only restore this historic park, but also to make it better than it was before.

Restoring David Crockett Birthplace State Park

David Crockett Birthplace State Park suffered catastrophic damage, with most of its buildings destroyed in the flood. Tennessee State Parks Conservancy is raising critical funds and recruiting volunteers to bring this beloved park back to life. See how you can help make an impact — join us in rebuilding and restoring the park.
