Event Details

Join seasonal interpretive ranger Cameron for a guided, one-hour hike along the scenic Bay Point Loop Trail to discover the incredible variety of birds that call our park home. We will wind through the woods and along the shoreline, keeping our eyes and ears open for local waterfowl, songbirds, and raptors. Whether you are an experienced birder or just starting out, this easy-to-moderate walk is a great way to enjoy the morning, practice your spotting skills, and connect with fellow nature lovers.

This isn't just an ordinary walk in the woods; you will also discover how to make your wildlife sightings count toward global conservation. During the hike, we will actively use the eBird app to record our birding observations, demonstrating how simple it is to log your sightings and contribute to real-world wildlife research right from your smartphone. Anyone who already has an eBird account can have the program's official checklist shared directly with them after the hike, though having an account or using the app is not required to participate and enjoy the program.

This program is recommended for ages 10 and above but all experience levels are welcome. Participants can bring their own cameras/binoculars but the park will also have several sets of binoculars available to borrow. We will meet for the program at the Bay Point Loop Trail Head, located by the boat ramp parking area.
