Construction from Brand New Playscape
Please excuse our mess as we work to build a brand-new learning playscape! Work has begun paving the way for a nature-based playscape that will combine the fun of a play area with opportunities to learn and help children connect with nature through a hands-on experience. Due to the heat, work may begin each day in the early morning hours before quiet time is over, causing noise for our campground guests. Please contact the park office for additional details. Thank you for your patience during this project!

Eco-Friendly Practices
The golf course at Harrison Bay State Park is part of the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program and Groundwater Guardian Green program, which means that the course enhances the natural landscape and wildlife habitat while also improving efficiency and minimizing potentially harmful impacts of golf course operations. Several of the park’s program components include electric mowers and golf carts which are quiet and do not disturb wildlife, targeted watering, and digital irrigation monitoring.
Recycling Programs
Recycle aluminum cans on-site and produce boat cleats for the dock. The park melts the cans down using a small foundry built out of a broken grill and a crucible constructed out of a recycled empty propane tank. Currently working on a mold for pendants of local birds for jewelry that will eventually be sold in the gift shop.
Eco-Friendly Practices
The park protects and enhances the ecosystem by using tent pads in the campground that decrease landscape impact from repeatedly setting up a tent in the same place. Staff has installed wooden beams that help minimize erosion-causing campsite runoff. In addition the park conducts controlled burns to encourage the growth of native grasses and vegetation.
EV Charging Stations
Installed EV charging stations at the Marina.
Energy Efficiency
Utilize geothermal heating and cooling in the fisherman’s cabins. Add new roof, insulation, LED lighting, doors and windows to the Nature Center.
