Join Ranger Jack in this basic overview of fishing, where you will go over the basic parts of a fishing rod, how to tie a fisherman's knot for the line to the hook, how to bait a hook, cast, and hopefully catch a fish! All are welcome to this program and those new to fishing are encouraged to sign up! You do not need your own poles or tackle - all you need besides bait is provided for this program because poles and tackle are provided as needed! The fee for this program goes to maintaining and providing this equipment.

You are encouraged to bring your own poles and tackle if you have them and want to use them! Ranger Jack is happy to help familiarize you with your own if possible.

This program is for the important basics of fishing so you can develop an understanding that you can build on in the future. All you need to do is sign up and bring your choices of bait! For the type of fishing in this program, it is recommended to bring live worms - The panfish/sunfish love them, and it is a classic bait choice. Nightcrawlers or Red Wrigglers are common choices of worms but any will do.

The Visitor Center sells worms as well as gas stations and grocery stores nearby to the lake.

Participants are encouraged to bring water/snacks.

For the purposes of this program, a valid TN fishing license is required for any participant over 12.
