Construction in the Park

Bledsoe Creek State Park

Due to upgrades within the park, there will be ongoing construction noise from 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday. The estimated completion date for this project is the summer of 2026.

  • Bledsoe Creek State Park, encompassing 169 acres, is a haven for outdoor recreation nestled on the shores of Old Hickory Lake. Visitors can explore a protected wetland from the Observation Boardwalk, Birdsong Trail and Shoreline Trail. The park offers hiking trails with scenic vistas, camping with lake views, and opportunities for fishing and boating, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

    Safety and Accessibility

    • Safety

      Bledsoe Creek State Park is committed to visitor safety. Visitors should be aware of the steep stairs on the High Ridge Trail and slippery bridges, especially when wet. Durable footwear and hiking sticks are recommended. The Shoreline Trail, Mayo Wix Trail, and Birdsong Trail are subject to closure due to flooding.

Visitors with specific accessibility needs are encouraged to contact the park directly to inquire about accessible trails, restrooms, parking, and other amenities.       Old Hickory Lake 

      A hub of activity for boating, kayaking, and fishing, Old Hickory Lake offers a refreshing escape and stunning water views.

      Bledsoe Fort 

      The park is named after Anthony and Isaac Bledsoe, local long hunters. Visitors can observe deer, turkeys, squirrels, songbirds, opossums, raccoons, turtles, great blue herons, and egrets in their natural habitat.

    Inspiration

    Pavilions 

    Bledsoe Creek State Park has two pavilions that may be reserved. Full-day shelter reservations may be made online or by calling the park. Pavilions may be reserved online up to one year in advance with a paid reservation fee. Shelter 1 is the smaller 30-person capacity shelter, while Shelter 2 is the larger 100-person capacity shelter.

    There is a $5 cancellation fee for picnic shelter or pavilion reservations cancelled eight days or more in advance of the reserved date. Reservations cancelled seven days or less in advance of the reserved date forfeit all paid fees.

    Happenings
  • Reduce Erosion

    Implemented multiple erosion control and drainage improvements. Mulched trails to make them more resistant to erosion from storms.  

  • Energy Efficiency

    Improved energy conservation and constructed an energy-efficient Visitor Center. Track park-wide energy consumption to ensure electrical efficiency.  

  • Improve Recycling

    Installed strategically placed trash and recycling dumpsters in the campground.
