There’s something timeless about sitting down and letting a simple piece of wood take shape in your hands. If you’ve ever wanted to try that, here's your chance.

Join us for a relaxed, hour-long introduction to whittling at the Visitor’s Center. We’ll gather outside (or indoors if the weather’s fussy), and learn the basics: how to hold your knife safely, simple cutting strokes, wood selection, and how to turn a small stick into something you’re proud to take home—whether it’s a pointy tent stake, a little mushroom, or just your first curly shaving.

No experience is needed. Just bring yourself, a little patience, and a pocket knife or whittling knife if you have one (a few extras may be available to borrow, but please bring your own if possible). This is a low-pressure, high-reward time perfect for beginners, families with older kids, or anyone who wants to slow down and make something by hand.
