Event Details

Did you know that birds are the closest living relatives to dinosaurs? Or that most dinosaurs probably had feathers? Not many people do, but during this program you can learn all about their ancient lineages and how far they've come over millions of years to end up here at Seven Islands!

Also at the park, we have some "living fossils" that live in the water like the Longnose Gar or Lake Sturgeon that have evolved very little since the time of the dinosaurs and we will learn about them, too. So join Ranger Casey to learn all about the "dinosaurs" of Seven Islands!

We will start with a 15-20 minute presentation in the Bluebird Barn, do an activity where we make our own fossils, then go for a hike to look for "dinosaurs"!

This program is recommended for families and visitors of all ages. Please meet at the Bluebird Barn at 5:30 PM. Be prepared to walk about 2 miles on paved and unpaved surfaces. For more details about the route we will take, read the Essential Eligibility Criteria. The walk will include stops along the trail to look for "dinosaurs" and discuss their adaptations and habits. Duration is approximately 2 hours.

The cost of this program is $5.00 per person.

Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and sunscreen. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
