  • Radnor Lake Accessibility

At Tennessee State Parks, we serve a variety of visitors, including individuals with physical disabilities and those who may face other barriers to outdoor recreation. With a focus on accessibility, we continually strive to enhance our parks to better accommodate all visitors. Learn more about accessible features, amenities, programs, and services offered.

    All-Terrain Wheelchairs

All-terrain wheelchairs are specialized wheelchairs designed to navigate a wide range of terrains that may be encountered in outdoor environments.

These are important to park visitors because they provide individuals with mobility impairments the opportunity to access and enjoy outdoor recreation areas that might otherwise be inaccessible.

Each park with an all-terrain wheelchair offers trail experiences that can accommodate this specialized wheelchair. The chairs are free to the public and available for both children and adults. The chairs can be operated independently and offer the option of allowing caretaker control.

To help us serve our visitors better, we kindly ask that you give us advance notice if you’d like to use a wheelchair. While it is possible to request a chair upon arrival, there is a possibility that the chair may already be reserved for another guest. Advanced requests ensure the availability of wheelchairs and make your experience even more enjoyable.

    Colorblind Viewfinder

Tennessee State Parks are a popular destination year-round, but for people with colorblindness, experiencing the full beauty of the parks can be a challenge.

Radnor Lake State Park uses color vision deficiency technology so that more travelers and residents alike can experience the beauty of Tennessee. Use our wheelchair friendly Colorblind Viewfinder to check out some of the highest terrain in West Tennessee with an abundance of breathtaking views. This viewfinder is located on the Lake Trail.

    Otter Creek Road Trail

Because Radnor Lake is a Class II Natural Area, this is the only trail on which dogs, jogging, and bikes are allowed.

    Distance: 1.05 Miles
    Difficulty: Easy – Wheelchair-friendly

The road is closed to motor traffic inside the park. From the road, there are excellent views of the lake, as well as the beaver lodge and dam, which can be seen from the causeway.

Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center

Visit the Aviary Education Center for an immersive, wheelchair-friendly learning experience at Radnor Lake State Park.

This center currently serves as a permanent home to injured and non-releasable birds of prey, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about them. Explore five aviaries along the 550-foot boardwalk, a bald eagle-flighted aviary, and a 50-seat amphitheater for ranger-led birds of prey programs. A lift brings park guests in wheelchairs up to the boardwalk to view the birds and their aviaries.

Additional environmental education opportunities include interpretive displays about venomous and non-venomous snakes. Discover the extensive collection of bird-related books, images, and other educational resources at the Ann Tarbell Library inside the Aviary Education Center.
