Fall Colors on Poplar Tree Lake Kayak Tour

Experience the vibrant autumn canopy of Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park from the water! Join Ranger Demetriou for a scenic, guided morning paddle across Poplar Tree Lake as the hardwood forest transforms into brilliant shades of gold, amber, and crimson.

Glide along the tranquil shoreline while learning about the park’s unique ecology, local wildlife preparing for the winter months, and the natural history of the Chickasaw Bluffs. Whether you're an avid paddler or getting on the water for a relaxing morning excursion, this tour offers an unmatched perspective of the fall season.

• Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026
• Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM (Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in and safety briefing)
• Location: Poplar Tree Lake Boat Ramp, Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park
• Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate; suitable for paddlers aged 10 and up (minors must be accompanied by an adult).
• Equipment Options:
• Park Rentals: Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are available to rent directly through the park for this event.
• Bring Your Own: Participants are welcome to bring their own personal kayak and paddle.
• Safety Requirement: Regardless of whether you rent gear from the park or bring your own, wearing a properly fitted, USCG-approved life jacket (PFD) is strictly required at all times while on the water.
• What to Bring: Weather-appropriate layers, waterproof footwear, a refillable water bottle, and a dry bag or waterproof case for phones and cameras.
