Pollinator Pursuit

Homeschool Program | Designed Ages 9–12

Buzz into the fascinating world of Tennessee's native pollinators! In this interactive homeschool program, students will discover why bees are essential to healthy ecosystems and explore how introducing new species can create competition for limited resources.

Through an exciting hands-on activity, participants will become "bees" as they gather pollen, experience resource competition firsthand, and investigate the important differences between Tennessee's 300+ native bee species and non-native pollinators. Along the way, students will learn how pollination supports wildflowers, wildlife, and many of the foods we enjoy every day.

By the end of the program, students will understand the importance of biodiversity, the role of native bees in maintaining balanced ecosystems, and simple ways they can help pollinators thrive through habitat conservation and planting pollinator-friendly flowers.

This engaging outdoor lesson aligns with Tennessee 4th grade Life Science standards and encourages scientific inquiry, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.

Designed for homeschool students.

Duration: Approximately 50 minutes.

Homeschoolers must be with an adult. Space has been limited to 15 homeschoolers. Please only register your homeschoolers only.
