Event Details

Discover the edible treasures growing all around us! Join Interpretive Park Ranger Shauna at the Nature Center for a guided walk as we explore the park and learn to identify a variety of wild edible plants, from towering trees and woodland shrubs to the plants growing beneath our feet.

Along the way, we'll sample a few safely identified edible plants and forage for others while discussing their traditional uses, seasonal availability, and how to identify them responsibly.

Foraging Guidelines: Tennessee State Parks allows visitors to gather reasonable quantities of renewable natural products for personal use, including fruits, berries, and similar items. Collecting natural materials for commercial sale or other commercial purposes is prohibited.

Important Safety Reminder: Never eat a wild plant unless you are 100% certain of its identification. Many edible plants have toxic look alikes, and proper identification is essential before consuming anything found in nature.
