Basic Climbing Knots

In Climbing Knot Basics, you will learn about common materials used in outdoor climbing such as dynamic ropes, static ropes, dyneema slings, nylon slings, and carabiners. After a discussion of materials, their uses, and their strengths, you will learn to tie common knots used in climbing applications. The remainder of the course will focus on practicing the knots and any questions related to their application.
We will not be climbing outdoors during this program, however this program will serve as a pre-requisite for future ranger led climbing trips, sport anchor cleaning programs (ground school), and rappel set-up programs (ground school).
Meet Ranger Jordan Evans at Long Hunter State Park visitor center at the posted time. All equipment is provided, but if you have equipment feel free to bring it. In the case of severe weather, all participants will be notified 24 hours before the program starts via the email entered at registration.
