Event Details

In Cleaning Sport Anchors, you will learn about typical styles of anchors encountered during sport climbing, equipment needed to clean a sport anchor, and skills to safely clean an anchor. After a discussion of the different types of anchors and the materials required to clean them, you will learn and practice cleaning a typical anchor on the ground. All equipment can be provided, but if you have equipment, please bring it so you can dial in with your own set-up.

Recommended knowledge or equipment: prior attendance of our Climbing Knot Basics course. familiarity with the following knots – figure 8 follow through, figure 8 on a bight, and overhand on a bight. ATC/tube rappel device or GriGri, 4 locking HMS/pear carabiners, personal anchor system (PAS) or 120cm nylon sling, 2 quickdraws, harness, climbing rope.

Meet Ranger Jordan Evans at Long Hunter State Park visitor center at the posted time. In the case of severe weather, all participants will be notified 24 hours before the program starts via the email entered at registration.
