Beginner Bird Watching

9:00 – 10:00 AM 

Meet at the Park Main Office located at 404 Spring Creek Rd, Delano, TN, 37325. 

Over 100 species of birds have been observed at Hiwassee Scenic River State Park. Interested in which species you can find here? Come on out and join Interpretive Ranger Andy for a beginners guide to searching and identifying the native birds here at the park. This program will last roughly an hour, all ages are welcome, and we will provide bird guides and binoculars for the duration of the program.

Hiwassee Scenic River State Park is a natural wonder, offering visitors an abundance of recreational opportunities. In 1968, the 23-mile section of the Hiwassee Scenic River was designated as the first managed river as part of the Tennessee State Scenic River Program. The river is considered a Class III partially developed river, making it a more intermediate paddling and rafting opportunity. The park is known for its excellent opportunities for rafting, canoeing, kayaking, birding, fishing, and camping, making it the park where visitors return to time and time again.
