Have you ever felt a beaver, river otter, or red fox pelt? Join Interpretive Ranger Andy in the campground where we will learn about numerous native animals to Southern Appalachia and get a feel for why some of these pelts were desired by so many in the past! All ages are welcome.
Hiwassee Scenic River State Park is a natural wonder, offering visitors an abundance of recreational opportunities. In 1968, the 23-mile section of the Hiwassee Scenic River was designated as the first managed river as part of the Tennessee State Scenic River Program. The river is considered a Class III partially developed river, making it a more intermediate paddling and rafting opportunity. The park is known for its excellent opportunities for rafting, canoeing, kayaking, birding, fishing, and camping, making it the park where visitors return to time and time again.
