Event Details

Learn about the animals that thrive in the dark during our Spooky Species program! Students will learn about nocturnal animals, discuss their special adaptations, and gain respect for animals that may seem scary at first. We will finish with a craft that involves scissors and glue.

This program is meant for ages 5-8. Parents must stay with their children during the program, but parents do not need to pay a registration fee for themselves.

The following state standards will be discussed during this program:

• Kindergarten (K.LS1): Explain how animals, including humans, use their five senses to interact with the environment. 
• 1st Grade (1.LS2): Develop and use models to show how plants and animals depend on their surroundings and other living things to meet their needs in the places they live. 
• 2nd Grade (2.LS1): Use evidence and observations to explain that many animals use their body parts and senses in different ways to see, hear, grasp objects, protect themselves, move from place to place, and seek, find, and take in food, water, and air.
