Full Moon At Mound Bottom

Join us for a magical evening under the light of the full moon as we explore one of Tennessee’s most fascinating ancient landscapes—Mound Bottom State Archaeological Site. Nestled in the bend of the Harpeth River, this prehistoric Mississippian-era site dates back to around 1000 A.D. and offers a rare glimpse into the lives of one of the region's earliest complex societies.
While we wait for the moon to rise we will discuss nocturnal animals, Mississippian lifeways, and the river's role in the lives of both past and present animals and peoples.
The hike is about 1.5 miles total over easy to moderate terrain. We will meet at the HWY 70 canoe access parking lot and travel to the site. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bug protection, bring flashlights, and b water. Binoculars are encouraged but not required. Photographers welcome.
