Event Details

Join us at the Nature Center for an exciting exploration of animal adaptations! Through encounters with live animal ambassadors, hands-on learning stations, and natural artifacts, homeschool students will discover how animals are specially adapted to survive in their environments. From camouflage and body coverings to specialized behaviors, students will investigate the amazing ways wildlife meets its basic needs and thrives in nature.

Designed for 2nd and 3rd Grade

Academic Standards: 2.LS1.1, 2.LS4.1

Students will:

• Participate in a discussion about the basic needs of animals and the habitats where they live.
• Meet live animal ambassadors and observe their unique adaptations firsthand.
• Compare animal coverings, body structures, and behaviors that help animals survive.
• Examine pelts, feathers, skulls, and other natural artifacts to identify adaptations.
• Participate in hands-on learning stations focused on camouflage, movement, and survival.
• Create an animal adaptation craft to reinforce key concepts.

Homeschool students must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited to 15 homeschool students. Please register only participating homeschool students.
