Event Details

Step back in time and explore the rich history of Sellars Farm State Archaeological Area, one of the best-preserved Native American village sites in the Southeast. Once home to a thriving Mississippian-era community, this site features a prominent ceremonial mound that offers insight into the social, political, and cultural life of the people who lived here centuries ago.

Join Pat Cummins for a guided hike focused entirely on the archaeological significance of the site. Along the trail, participants will learn about the layout of the village, the function of the mound, and the artifacts and features that help archaeologists interpret daily life, trade, and community structure during the Mississippian period. This program highlights how ongoing research continues to shape our understanding of this important cultural landscape.
