Step back in time and explore the rich history of Sellars Farm State Archaeological Area, a remarkable example of a Mississippian-era cultural site in the Southeast. Once home to a thriving Mississippian community, this landscape features a prominent ceremonial mound that reflects the complex social, political, and cultural traditions of the people who lived here centuries ago.

Join Pat Cummins for a guided hike focused on the Mississippian-era culture that shaped this site. Along the trail, participants will learn how villages were organized, how earthen mounds were constructed and used, and how archaeological evidence helps interpret daily life, trade, and community structure. This program highlights the enduring significance of the Mississippian people and what their remains continue to reveal about the past.

Sellars Farm is located off Exit 239 (Watertown) on I-40 east. Turn onto Poplar Hill Road. The entrance is approximately 1.5 miles on the left.
