Who is ready for some fun in the sun? We know we are! As the days start to stretch, many park visitors are finalizing their summer plans. Fall Creek Falls State Park is a summer staple for most, with hiking, camping and so much more to enjoy outdoors.

This year, Fall Creek Falls State Park will undergo a major renovation of its swimming pool, closing it for the 2025 season. With the massive amount of foundational and mechanical repairs needed and the necessity to complete them during the warmer months, this temporary closure will allow the pool to last for years to come.

But don’t fret! We have plenty of ways to beat the heat this summer at the park:

  • At our park:
    • The Nature Center: The Betty Dunn Nature Center is the perfect way to get out of the heat and learn a few things!
    • The George Hole: Visitors can enjoy swimming and wading in the creek.
    • The Cascades: Another unique place to wade is at the bottom of Cane Creek Cascades located behind the Nature Center.
      • Please note that visitors to both areas must swim at their own risk, and no lifeguards are on duty.
  • Cumberland Mountain State Park: Cumberland Mountain State Park is only a short drive away. The park has an Olympic-sized swimming pool that visitors can enter for a small fee or rent out for events. In addition to the pool, the park sits on the picturesque Byrd Lake, perfect for paddling and fishing!
  • Rock Island State Park: Rock Island State Park is another short drive from Fall Creek Falls State Park. While the park is known for its incredible falls, the swim beach and Caney Fork River Gorge offer swimming and wading opportunities (at your own risk).
