    Safety and Accessibility

    • Safety  

      While exploring the park's natural beauty, visitors should be aware of potential hazards such as ants, snakes, and stinging insects. It's recommended to stay on designated trails to minimize encounters with wildlife and be mindful of the lack of shade and running water in certain areas. The park is designed to flood and does so about once per year. Animals must be leashed unless they are training at Retriever Lake Training Area.

      Middle Fork Bottoms State Park is committed to providing accessible recreational opportunities for all visitors. The park features an accessible overlook on the south side of the Middle Fork Forked Deer River, offering fishing opportunities, wildlife viewing, and scenic views of grasslands and young sycamore forests.

      November 17, 2025 | NASHVILLE – Tennessee State Parks today announced the installation of signs at several parks across the state giving visitors detailed information developed from the use of new technology on the conditions expected on park trails. The new park signage is another example of how Tennessee has the most accessible state park system in the nation.
