Event Details

Join Roan Mountain State Park from 10:00am – 12:00pm on Friday, November 27th for the annual Day After Thanksgiving Hike. Celebrate the year and everything we have to be thankful for as we hike on the out-and-back Moonshiner’s Run Trail for 2.0 miles roundtrip through the forest and along the Doe River. Space is limited to 30 participants for this free guided hike.

We will start our hike at the Moonshiner’s Run Trailhead located at the cabin overflow parking area. This is an easy-moderate hike across soil and large rock with a typical grade of 7.8% and short maximum inclines of 34.5% grade. Weather can vary greatly this time of the year, so be sure to wear layers, good hiking shoes, and pack a rain jacket and snacks/water/cameras. Meet your guide, Interpretive Ranger Andrea Price, at the Moonshiner’s Run Trailhead to opt out of Black Friday and get out into nature. Register for your free spot today!
