      World War II Memorial

Take a moment to reflect on and remember the 5,731 Tennesseans who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II. Installed in November of 1997, the 2,800-square-foot granite plaza has several components memorializing specific aspects of the conflict, including a bench that honors the seven Tennessee recipients of the Medal of Honor, and the time capsule to be opened in 2045.

      Rivers of Tennessee

This captivating water feature is a collection of 31 geyser-like fountains commemorating the state's major lakes, rivers, and tributaries. In addition to the refreshing water jets, inscriptions provide details about each of the waterways.

      • Tall stone columns encircle part of the Court of 3 Stars, casting long shadows across the grass under a bright, clear sky.

      95-Bell Carillon

Enjoy this musical masterpiece that chimes every 15 minutes and plays a rotation of Tennessee-inspired songs at the top of each hour, including "Tennessee Waltz," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," and "Iris Time in Tennessee." Representing the musical heritage of the citizens of Tennessee, there is a bell for each of the state’s 95 counties. A 96th bell on the Capitol grounds rings in answer, symbolizing the government answering the call of the people.
