      Big Cypress Tree State Park is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. While the park generally poses minimal safety risks, visitors should be aware that the River Trail and Boardwalk occasionally close due to flooding and high-water levels. Please stay on designated trails and adhere to all posted warnings.

      Big Cypress Tree State Park provides accessibility through a Visitor Center with designated accessible parking spaces, ramps, and spacious layouts, as well as accessible restrooms equipped with grab bars.

      Tennessee State Parks are dedicated to promoting responsible recreation — encouraging visitors to enjoy the parks’ natural beauty while minimizing their own impact.       September 6, 2024 | NASHVILLE – Tennessee State Parks will join First Lady Maria Lee’s Tennessee Serves initiative Sept. 19-29 with volunteer work events at parks across the state. The volunteer opportunities coincide with National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 28.

    • Donations Are Improving Tennessee State Parks

      April 25, 2024  |   The My TN State Park Fundraiser is an annual event that allows people to donate to vote for their favorite Tennessee state park. Since the fundraiser’s inception in 2021, donations have funded significant improvements in park facilities and visitor experiences, including improved trails, new educational programs, and support for wildlife ambassadors.     Park Pavilions

    The Big Cypress Tree picnic pavilion is perfect for your next family picnic or BBQ.   

    The pavilion may be reserved online up to one year in advance with a paid reservation fee. There is a $5 cancellation fee for picnic shelter or pavilion reservations cancelled eight days or more in advance of the reserved date. Reservations cancelled seven days or less in advance of the reserved date forfeit all paid fees.

    Amenities: Two grills, five picnic tables, water, lights, electric

    Rates: $37

    Implemented a recycling program. Upgraded to energy-efficient lighting.  

  • Natural Habitat Management

    Planted butterfly-attracting plants to provide them with a food source. Encourage natural vegetation to grow by reducing mowing. 

  • Decrease Emissions

    Reducing mowing decreases both pollution from the tractor emissions and noise that disturbs visiting hikers.  

  • On-Site Recycling

    Maintain Tennessee Green Hospitality Program certification. Track park-wide energy use to identify areas for improvement.
