      Fort Pillow State Park is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. The park advises visitors to exercise caution near bluff edges as they can be unstable. Be aware of venomous snakes and mosquitos and wear appropriate clothing and insect repellent. The park also recommends that anyone under 18 years old be accompanied by an adult.

      Fort Pillow State Park strives to make its facilities and programs accessible to all visitors. The park offers accessible parking, restrooms, and trails. The park Visitor Center and Museum are also accessible. For specific accessibility inquiries, please contact the park directly.

    The Battle of Fort Pillow

    It was April 12, 1864 and the United States Army occupied Fort Pillow. The Confederate Army attacked and won a military victory, only for it to be steeped in one of the most controversial moments of the American Civil War.

    Pavilions

    Fort Pillow State Park has two picnic pavilions that may be reserved for your next event or gathering. 

    Capacity: 125 - 200 
    Amenities: picnic tables, grill, access to restrooms 
    Rates: $30 

    Full-day shelter reservations may be made online or by calling the park. 

    Picnic shelters or pavilions may be reserved online up to one year in advance with a paid reservation fee.  

    There is a $5 cancellation fee for picnic shelter or pavilion reservations cancelled eight days or more in advance of the reserved date. Reservations cancelled seven days or less in advance of the reserved date forfeit all paid fees.

  • Energy Efficiency

    Utilize energy efficient lighting such as LED bulbs.   

  • Reduce Erosion

    Protect the campground landscape from erosion and human impact by using tent pads. Tent pads are man-made surfaces that protect the ground from damage caused by repeatedly setting up a tent in the same spot.  

     

     

  • Protect Habitats

    Created butterfly gardens to provide a habitat and food source for butterflies.  

     

     

  • Eco-Friendly Practices

    Installed strategically placed trash and recycling dumpsters to reduce number of trash cans and the need for trash can liners.  

     

     

  • Manage Waste

    The campground is free of trash cans and has a dump station with a dumpster, recycling, and a spot for gray and black water located at the entrance of the campground.
