    Safety and Accessibility

      Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. The park emphasizes awareness of potential fall hazards at the World War I trench exhibit and slipping hazards at the dam near the Gristmill. Visitors should also be aware of the potential for flash flooding on area roads during severe weather. 

    • Accessibility

      Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park strives to make its facilities and programs accessible to all visitors. While the interiors of the York home and Gristmill are not ADA-compliant due to the stairs, videos are available for those unable to access the upper floors.

      Tennessee State Parks are dedicated to promoting responsible recreation — encouraging visitors to enjoy the parks’ natural beauty while minimizing their own impact. By practicing Leave No Trace principles and respecting park rules, visitors can help preserve these precious resources for future generations.

    Fishing at Sgt. Alvin C. York

    The Wolf River offers canoe, kayak, and bank fishing for large mouth bass, catfish, bluegill, and bream, and is stocked with trout March, April, and May. A trout stamp is required.

      York Farm

      Step back in time and explore the preserved home and farm of Sgt. Alvin C. York. This National Historic Landmark lets you discover the daily life of this World War I hero and his family and gain insight into the values that shaped his character.

      York Gristmill

      Visit this beautifully restored testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of rural communities. Learn about the milling process and the importance of this vital industry in the early 20th century.

    Pavilions

    Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park has two pavilions that may be reserved for your next event or gathering.  

    Capacity: 50 
    Amenities: picnic tables, a grill, and access to restrooms.  
    Nearby: Playground 
    Rates: $54 

    Full-day shelter reservations may be made online or by calling the park. Pavilions may be reserved online up to one year in advance with a paid reservation fee.  

    There is a $5 cancellation fee for picnic shelter or pavilion reservations cancelled eight days or more in advance of the reserved date. Reservations cancelled seven days or less in advance of the reserved date forfeit all paid fees.
