Partial Trail Closure

Mousetail Landing State Park

A portion of the 8-mile Eagle Point Loop Trail remains closed due to storm damage. The portion of the trail that remains closed is the section of trail that connects backcountry campsites 1 and 2. Hikers can currently reach both campsites/shelters from the trailhead. The section of the trail between Shelter 1 and Shelter 2 will be reopened as soon as possible.

      Mousetail Landing State Park is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. While the park offers a variety of recreational activities, it's important to be aware of typical risks involved with outdoor recreation. The eight-mile trail is rated "difficult," and the three-mile trail is "moderate," so hikers should be prepared for the terrain.

      Mousetail Landing State Park strives to provide accessible facilities and experiences for all visitors. The park offers accessible parking, restrooms, and picnic areas in the main campground. While some trails may present challenges for visitors with mobility impairments, the park is committed to improving accessibility and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the natural beauty of Mousetail Landing. Visitors are encouraged to contact the park office directly for specific information about accessible features and to discuss their individual needs.

    Pavilions

    Mousetail Landing State Park has one pavilion that may be reserved for your next event or gathering. The shelter is equipped with picnic tables, a grill, and access to restrooms. Full-day shelter reservations may be made by calling the park.  

    Pavilions may be reserved online up to one year in advance with a paid reservation fee.  

    There is a $5 cancellation fee for picnic shelter or pavilion reservations cancelled eight days or more in advance of the reserved date. Reservations cancelled seven days or less in advance of the reserved date forfeit all paid fees.

  • Energy Efficiency

    The visitor center recently upgraded all lighting to LED and upgraded to a 16 SEER HVAC system.  

  • TVA Green Power

    The park participates in the TVA Green Power Switch program.  

  • Reduce Erosion

    Tent pads in the campground protect and enhance the ecosystem by decreasing negative impact of repeatedly setting up a tent in the same place.
