    Shooting at Natchez Trace

The Natchez Trace Firing Range is free to use with a permit.

Permits are available at the gate. The range is open every day during daylight hours but may be closed during law enforcement training.

The firing range consists of two separate ranges: a rifle range and a pistol range. In 2014, a berm was added between the ranges, allowing them to be used simultaneously. Each range is operated on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Obtaining a Permit

Use of the range is free; however, you are required to fill out a permit stating you have read and understand the rules and regulations regarding the range. Obtain and sign a permit as you enter the range. A donation tube is located beside the permit station. Any funds donated are used for the maintenance and upkeep of the range.

    • 1.

Look to the left as you enter the gate and you will see a station with 2 mailboxes.

    • 2.

At the first box, you will take out the permit.

    • 3.

Read, sign and tear off the perforated portion to retain.

    • 4.

Place the other portion of the permit in the second mailbox.

    Safety First

    • No firing when someone else is downrange.
    • Follow all posted rules.
    • Be considerate of others when shooting.
    • Hunter in orange vest walking on a forest path, carrying a rifle.

    Ranges

    • Rifle Range

The rifle range consists of a shooting shelter with targets set up at 25, 50, and 100 yards respectively. Any caliber rifle is welcome to shoot.

We do ask there be no shotguns used on the range because of the damage they do to the backboards.

Please pick up all your own brass when using either range.

    • Pistol Range

The pistol range has four stations with shooting distances ranging from three to 25 yards.

Each station can accommodate from four to twelve shooters depending on the number of targets set up at the time. Please pick up all your own brass when using either range.
