    Fishing at Ocoee River

The Ocoee River is home to a large variety of species for anglers of all ages to enjoy.

Parksville Lake (also known as Parksville Reservoir or Lake Ocoee) is a popular fishing spot. This lake is managed by TVA and the U.S. Forest Service and stocked by the TWRA.

Anglers are most likely to find bass, catfish, sunfish, and bream, but there are other potential warmwater fish in the area. Please note that live black bass cannot be taken away from the lake.

Additionally, anglers have found success in the calmer waters of the Lower Ocoee and, when the dam is not in active release, the Upper Ocoee.

Additionally, anglers have found success in the calmer waters of the Lower Ocoee and when the dam is not in active release, the Upper Ocoee.

    • With the cooler water found in the Upper Ocoee, anglers have the opportunity to catch rainbow and brown trout.
    • Please note that that anglers can only fish when the dam is not in active release.
    • Anglers typically enjoy fishing for these in the spring and fall during the better conditions, but trout have been known to be caught in the winter as well.
    • With the warm water found in the calmer Lower Ocoee, particularly in the summer, the pools and eddies make the smallmouth bass more prevalent.
    • Popular spots are at Sugarloaf Mountain Park and along the Lower Ocoee all the way up to the Nancy Ward Gravesite.

Please mind the creel limits and rules and regulations when fishing at any of the locations within the park.
