    Cumberland Mountain State Park is located on the Cumberland Plateau in Crossville, Tennessee. The park offers a scenic setting of forested hills, creeks, and Byrd Lake, along with historic Civilian Conservation Corps structures throughout the landscape. Visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, paddling, and dining at the park’s restaurant during their stay. 

    Camping options include multiple campground areas with sites for tents and RVs offering water and electric hookups, as well as a backcountry campsite that requires a hike in.

    Cumberland Mountain Tent & RV Sites

    Cumberland Mountain have tent and RV campsites with water and electric hookups. Picnic tables, grills, and bathhouse facilities are provided in each camping area. 

    Overnight Trail Backcountry Site

    Backcountry Camping
    This is a hike-in backcountry campsite on the Overnight Trail, accessible by hiking the Byrd Creek Trail. The Overnight Trail is a six-mile loop through the forest, rated moderate to difficult. You should be prepared to cross a swinging bridge and several creeks and streams. The hike would be 8 miles round trip.
    This is a primitive site; please practice Leave No Trace.

    Details You Should Know

    • Electric

      30/50-amp service and standard 110-volt outlets available at the main campground.  

    • Wheelchair Accessible

      Main Camping Areas 1, 2, 3, and 5 have wheelchair accessible campsites and bathhouses. Area 4 campsites and bathhouse are not wheelchair accessible.  

    • Tents

      Main Camping Areas 2, 3, and 5 tents are not allowed on the grass.  

    • Amenities

      Picnic tables, grills, and bathhouse facilities are provided in the main campground.  

    • Capacity

      Seven adults are allowed to a camp at each site in the main campground. Site may have two tents, or one tent and one camper.  

    • Practice Leave No Trace 

      Please practice Leave No Trace and pack out what you bring in. This is especially important on the Overnight Trail.  

    • Campfires and Firewood

      All campfires must be made with heat-treated wood or downed wood collected inside the park, near the campsite. Please do not bring untreated wood into the park. Firewood is sold onsite.  

    Camp Store

    The park’s camp store is your best spot for finding gear, snacks and accessories to make your camping experience exceptional. The camp store is your go-to destination for a cold drink, a can of chili, or those matches you forgot to pack.

    Firewood Policy 

    Tennessee State Parks asks that ALL campfires be made with heat-treated wood or downed wood collected inside the park, near the campsite. Please refrain from bringing untreated wood into the park.
