    Cabins at Big Ridge State Park

    Visitors will enjoy hiking on the ridges overlooking Norris Lake and spending time out on the water. Located just north of Knoxville, this is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty and history of East Tennessee. 

    The park has 20 one-room, rustic cabins that are open from April 1 through October 31. The cabins were built in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and retain the charm and design of that time. Five cabins are located on the lakeside and 15 cabins sit on the ridge.

    Come enjoy a lakeside vacation rental at Big Ridge State Park. Visitors will enjoy hiking on the ridges overlooking Norris Lake and spending time out on the water. Located just north of Knoxville, this is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty and history of East Tennessee. The park has 20 one-room rustic cabins that are open from April 1 through October 31. The cabins were built in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and retain the charm and design of that time. Five cabins are located on the lakeside, and 15 sit on the ridge. Please note: daily housekeeping services are not available.

    Details You Should Know

    Cabins are not available for same-day reservation.  

    • Parking

      Parking is extremely limited. Do not attempt to tow or park a trailer in the cabin area. Most cabins require a set of stairs to get to and from the parking area.

    • Minimum Stay

      There is a two-night minimum stay required. Holidays and other special event times may require longer minimum stays. Peak times require a three-night minimum stay (including Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day).   

    • Maximum Stay

      Maximum consecutive stay from April 1 – October 31 in any one cabin is 14 nights.  

    • Reservations 

      Reservations may be made through our central reservations system (see phone number above) or the park office up to 13 months in advance.   

    • Pet Policy 

      Pets are only allowed in the pet-friendly cabin. There is a $20 per pet/night charge for standard cabins. Additional charges may apply for any damage that occurs to the carpet or furnishings.   

    • Pet-Friendly Cabins

      Pets are only permitted in Cabins 6 and 13. Please request this accommodation when making your reservation to ensure you are assigned a cabin to meet your needs.  

    Recreation Hall

    Got an event? Check out Big Ridge's Recreation Hall.

    Ideal for weddings, reunions, and other events, the Recreation Hall at Big Ridge State Park is a versatile event and meeting venue that can accommodate approximately 70 people. The rustic log-and-stone hall overlooks Big Ridge Lake and has a large adjacent flagstone patio. Immediately below the hall is the amphitheater.
