The winter months are the perfect time of year to make use of the many cabins Tennessee State Parks offers. Here are nine cabin recommendations for a cozy stay – stay warm while still getting to experience our fantastic Tennessee State Parks!

Chickasaw State Park

Chickasaw State Park is a peaceful area tucked away in the Chickasaw State Forest. Only 30 minutes from Jackson, the park is a great outdoor retreat.

The park has 13 historic cabins built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) that sleep up to six people. The cabins, complete with cozy fireplaces, are nestled among tall pines and located within easy access to Lake Placid. If you want to bring your RV this winter instead, the RV campground offers sites equipped with water and electrical hookups.

Cumberland Mountain State Park

Tucked away on the Cumberland Plateau, Cumberland Mountain State Park offers a peaceful retreat from everyday life. The park features scenic lake views alongside excellent hiking trails, dining options, and a golf course. Visitors can also explore nearby Ozone Falls or venture onto sections of the Cumberland Trail. Whatever adventure you seek, you'll find it at the Cumberland Mountain cabins.

The park features 37 cabins in seven distinct styles, from cozy historic CCC structures to spacious accommodations that sleep up to ten people. Visitors can enjoy amenities including a restaurant, gift shop, CCC Museum, golf course with clubhouse, and playground.

Norris Dam State Park

Located on the shores of Norris Lake, with more than 800 miles of shoreline, Norris Dam State Park is an excellent place for lakeside adventures, hiking, photography, and much more.

The park has 19 historic cabins, ten deluxe cabins, and one historic cottage. The newer, standard cabins are some of the most popular in the entire park system, and the rustic cabins are steeped in history and known for their uniqueness. The historic cabins were initially constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While they are historic, they have received renovations including modern finishes, kitchen appliances, showers, etc. All cabins are in quiet, wooded settings and offer cozy features like fireplaces and outdoor fire pits.

Standing Stone State Park

Nestled within 11,000 acres of Standing Stone State Forest on the Cumberland Plateau sits a village of 21 cabins overlooking Standing Stone Lake.

Each cabin comes equipped with Wi-Fi, letting guests seamlessly blend work and play. Visitors can enjoy numerous outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and birding. The cabins also serve as an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions like Dale Hollow Lake, Cummins Falls State Park, and Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park. Pickwick Landing State Park

Experience the thrill of winter fishing at Pickwick Lake, famous for its year-round angling opportunities. Turn your fishing trip into an unforgettable weekend getaway with luxurious accommodations.

Pickwick Landing State Park offers two types of cabins. The lakefront villas provide incredible views along with all the comforts of home—Wi-Fi, central heating, gas fireplaces, cable TV, and fully equipped kitchens. Nestled in the woods, the other cabins offer a cozy retreat surrounded by the peaceful sights and sounds of nature. All cabin guests can enjoy the amenities at the lodge, including an indoor pool and dining at the restaurant.

Reelfoot Lake State Park

Reelfoot Lake State Park is located in the northwest corner of Tennessee. The 15,000-acre lake is a flooded forest that often freezes over during winter months creating beautiful ice formations. This season offers the best opportunity to view one of large population of American Bald Eagles outside Alaska. The park features a museum and nature center with history and wildlife exhibits.

Seven lakeside cabins provide modern comfort and convenience. Each cabin features spacious living, dining, and kitchen areas with either two or three bedrooms. Modern amenities include full bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens with dishwashers, central heating and air conditioning, electric fireplaces, outdoor charcoal grills, and patios. The pet-friendly cabins come with cable TV and Wi-Fi service. From the back porch, guests can enjoy stunning views of wildlife and spectacular sunrises.

Pickett CCC Memorial State Park

Pickett CCC Memorial State Park features some of Tennessee's most striking geological formations. Dramatic rock houses and bluffs tower over a lush forest of evergreens, rhododendron bushes, and moss-covered timber.

The park offers 15 rental cabins in three styles to suit different group sizes, ranging from cozy historic cabins to spacious deluxe units that sleep up to eight people. All cabins feature cozy fireplaces. Visitors can enjoy dark sky viewing, hiking, and fishing. Plus, the park’s CCC Museum showcases exhibits about the Civilian Conservation Corps' contributions to Tennessee's parks and natural areas.

Roan Mountain State Park

Roan Mountain offers rolling meadows, evergreen foliage, and the gorgeous Doe River. The cabins are about 15 minutes from the top of the mountain, one of Tennessee's tallest points. The park is also within driving distance of some of the area's best ski slopes.

There are 30 comfortable cabins at Roan Mountain State Park. Each cabin has a front porch with rocking chairs, a fully outfitted kitchen, a full bath, a wood-burning stove, and gas/electric heat. The cabins do not have Wi-Fi service, which means they are the perfect getaway to connect with friends and family. Visitors can hike along the creeks and ridges, tour the century-old Miller Farmstead, or enjoy cross-country skiing in the winter months. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and 2.25 miles of mountain bike trails.
