    Paddling at Hiwassee Scenic River

Hiwassee Scenic River State Park provides the perfect paddle for those looking to balance outdoor recreation and the true beauty of nature.

Floating, canoeing, and rafting are the most popular activities on the Hiwassee Scenic River, offering options for paddlers with varying skill levels, from beginners to more intermediate.

For those looking for more of a challenge, daily throughout the summer, the Hiwassee can experience up to Class II rapids, thanks to a release in the dams from the TVA. But, in the other sections of the 23-mile stretch of river, the casual floater or beginner paddler will be able to take a more leisurely trip along the waters, stopping at islands for rests for a true day on the water.
