Energy Efficiency
Added a new roof, insulation, LED lighting, doors and windows to the Nature Center.
Energy Efficiency & Dark Sky Certification
Converted all exterior lighting to energy efficient LED. As the first state park in the southeast to receive the internationally-recognized Dark Skies Certification, this shows Pickett’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the night sky while reducing energy consumption.
Reduce Erosion
Minimize erosion in the campground through the use of tent pads. Pads decrease negative impact to the land from repeatedly setting up a tent in the same place. Encourage growth of native grasses and vegetation.
Recycling and Community
Through a partnership with Fentress County, the park has a successful recycling program.
