Fishing at Pickwick Landing
Pickwick Lake is renowned for its exceptional sport fishing opportunities and hosts numerous local and national fishing tournaments.
The park is located on the Tennessee River at mile marker 207.6. Behind the dam is Pickwick Lake, a reservoir of the Tennessee River with white bass, catfish, crappie, and more.
The tailwaters of the Tennessee River provide excellent fishing conditions for various species including crappie, sauger (winter/spring), white and yellow bass (spring), striped bass (spring/fall) and catfish (year-round). Pickwick Landing also has a notable population of smallmouth bass with some fish reaching legal size for bass tournaments. Anglers can enjoy productive fishing from the bank and by boat.
The river spans three states: Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. Anglers must adhere to the regulations of the state in whose waters they are fishing.

Tennessee Fishing License
All individuals aged 13 and older must have a valid fishing license to fish in Tennessee.
There are a variety of fishing licenses available for residents and non-residents, including a junior license for residents ages 13 - 15.
Licenses are granted by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and may be obtained online or in person at sporting goods stores, county clerks, hardware stores, and boat docks as well as online.
Pickwick Reservoir spans three states: Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. A reciprocal agreement exists between all three states that recognizes valid fishing licenses from each state in all impounded water from Pickwick Dam upstream to Tennessee River Mile 224.8 at the mouth of Bear Creek.
Anglers must adhere to the regulations of the state in whose water they are fishing.
