What forms are needed to have a wedding at a Tennessee State Park?
To have a wedding at a Tennessee State Park, you will need to complete a Special Use Permit application. This application requires details like the date, time, number of attendees, preferred location, and contact information. Some parks may also require you to reserve specific areas or pay a fee.

Can I serve alcohol at my event?
If you are looking to serve alcohol at your event and are not using a facility that is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages, such as the Lodges, or Restaurants, you must apply for an Alcohol Use permit. The Alcohol Use Application Form must be completed and returned to the park at which you are having your event. There is a fee associated with the permit, and approval is at the discretion of park staff. Service of alcohol is subject to state and local ordinances.

Can I have my event outside near the water, by a waterfall or in a field?
Yes, you can have an event outside near water, by a waterfall, or in a field at a Tennessee State Park, but you will likely need to apply for a Special Use Permit from the specific park management for events that go beyond basic rentals. These permits are necessary for events with special requirements, such as those exceeding the normal seating capacity, needing tents or portable toilets, or using outside vendors.

What is an example of a special event that requires a permit?
Runs, camps, triathlons and other special events may require a Special Use Permit. Events that exceed basic rental expectations for a specific site, as determined by Park Management require this permit. Examples of special events that exceed basic rental expectations include, but are not limited to:
- Events that exceed seating capacity for a structure and require expanding into the surrounding area to accommodate all attendees;
- Events that required tent installation, portable toilets, and other temporary structures;
- Events using outside vendors such as a caterer; or
- Events where alcohol will be served.
These special use events include, but are not limited to, public meetings, assemblies, gatherings, demonstrations, exhibitions, parades, fairs, festivals, athletic events, pageants, reenactments, regattas, weddings, group celebrations, and similar activities by one or more persons and the conduct of which has the effect, intent, or propensity to draw a crowd of attendees or spectators. The Special Use Application Form (link to form is below) must be completed and returned to the park at which you are having your event.

Do Tennessee State Parks allow outside catering?
Yes, many parks allow outside catering; however, some parks require the use of their on-site food and beverage team. Check with the specific park venue for permitted options.
For all groups stays except pavilions, onsite catering at parks with restaurants required to use restaurant catering if groups are offering guests meals. Pavilions groups are allowed to bring their own food. $5 per person fee for pavilions with own catering.
