Some Trails Closed

Montgomery Bell State Park

Portions of the Montgomery Bell and Creech Hollow Trails will be closed for visitor safety beginning 3/2/26 due to a timber salvage project as a result of the November storms that brought down thousands of trees. We anticipate reopening the closed portions in May 2026.

Campground Closure

Montgomery Bell State Park

The Campground at Montgomery Bell (or the Four Mile Creek Campground) is currently closed for renovations. If you have any questions, please call our Central Reservations at 1 (888) 867-2757.

  • Camping at Montgomery Bell

    Montgomery Bell State Park is located in Middle Tennessee, about 40 minutes west of downtown Nashville. The park features forested landscapes and three lakes that support a wide range of outdoor activities throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, golfing, fishing, and paddling during their stay. 

    Camping options include sites for tents and RVs with water and electric hookups, with some sites also offering sewer connections. Backcountry camping is available along the park’s designated overnight trail by permit, with designated shelters available for overnight use.

    Montgomery Bell Tent and RV Campsites 

    Tent & RV

    Open year-round, the campground provides 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric service, with many including water and onsite sewer. Most electrical sitescan accommodate 60 ft. campers. There are three bathhouses in the campground, and picnic tables, trash cans, and grills are available at each campsite. Some sites are available along the creek bank running beside the campground.

    Campsites can only contain one motorhome (RV, fifth-wheel, pop-up, travel trailer) plus one tent OR two tents. Campsites are limited to 4 people per site.

    There are 2 accessible pull-through campsites.

    Backcountry Camping

    Backcountry camping is allowed on the overnight trail with a backcountry camping permit. Tent camping is not allowed on the overnight trail.  

    To reserve a backcountry shelter, please call the backcountry reservation line. 

    All rates subject to change. Taxes and fees are added upon reservation.  A $5 non-refundable reservation fee per site is required. A $10 cancellation fee applies.

    Details You Should Know

    • Additional Individuals

      Up to 3 additional individuals may be allowed per site. An additional $1 per person per night will be charged.  

    • Check-Out / Quiet Time

      Check-out time is 12 noon. Quiet time is from 10:00 pm – 6:00 am. Please be respectful of other campers when preparing to leave the campsite. Try not to disturb others.  

    • Pets

      Dogs, cats and other pets are welcome at the campground, but are to be controlled and on a leash at all times. They may not be tied and left unattended outside. Pets are not allowed inside any buildings, rental unit, pavilions, beach area or playground areas.  

    Firewood Policy 

    Tennessee State Parks asks that ALL campfires be made with heat-treated wood or downed wood collected inside the park, near the campsite. Please refrain from bringing untreated wood into the park.
