Camping at Natchez Trace
Natchez Trace State Park is located in West Tennessee, about 40 minutes northeast of Jackson, and sits within a larger 48,000-acre landscape that includes a state forest and wildlife management area. The park offers a wooded setting with multiple lakes and opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, boating, and horseback riding, with hunting and ATV riding available on nearby public lands.
Camping options include tent and RV campsites at the Cub Lake and Pin Oak campgrounds, with some Pin Oak sites offering sewer hookups and lake views. The park also features a wrangler campground for campers traveling with horses and backcountry camping available by permit.
Natchez Trace Pin Oak Campground
The Pin Oak campground has 2 bathhouses, 50-amp electric, sewer, and water hookups. The campground is located on the shore of Pin Oak Lake and can accommodate RVs up to 80 feet in length. The RV camp also offers a swimming beach, playground, picnic shelter, camping cabins, and a boat dock.
While this campground is open year-round, some campsites close after December 1. Campers should be aware that there is very limited, if any, cell service available in the Pin Oak campground area.
Natchez Trace Cub Lake Recreation Area
The Cub Lake Recreation Area has two campgrounds available.
Cub Lake Campground 1 has several campsites and 1 bathhouse. The sites feature 20 and 30-amp electric, and a few have 50-amp electric. All sites have water hookups. There is a strict RV size restriction of 25 feet and under. This campground is open seasonally and also has a dump station.

Natchez Trace Backcountry Camping
There are two backcountry campsites that require a hike to access. Backcountry camping is allowed, although a permit is required, obtainable through the Visitor Center in addition to registering online.

This campsite is a 11.2-mile hike from the Visitor Center parking area.
Cub Lake Backcountry Campsite
This campsite is a 2.5-mile hike from the Visitor Center and parking area.
Natchez Trace Wrangler Campground
The Wrangler Campground is designed for campers with horses, located 2.2 miles south of I-40 on Hwy. 114. Each site has a picnic table, ground grill, pedestal grill, lantern holder, and posts to picket horses. There are 250 miles of riding trails in the park and forest.
While this campground is open year-round, some campsites close after December 1.
Camping Cabins
The camping cabins are a unique lodging option at Natchez Trace. Five cabins are located right by the water on a grassy slope overlooking Pin Oak Lake. Each cabin has air conditioning, two bunks (sleeping four people total), a picnic table, a BBQ grill, a lantern holder, and water (in-season). All camper cabins are pet-friendly and are open year-round.
